Professional Liability Program

Program Description

• Claims-made professional liability for displaced, underserved or otherwise difficult to place physicians and surgeons
• Program is written on a non-admitted (surplus lines) basis and targets Individual Healthcare Providers that hold either a temporary or permanent license in the state(s) where they practice clinical medicine

Available Limits

• Limits of liability vary from $250,000 / $750,000 to $1,000,000 / $3,000,000
• Limits may be restricted in certain states and/or on a risk-by-risk basis based on underwriting criteria

Guidelines

• All risks must be located in the United States
• The physician must hold a current temporary or permanent medical license in the state(s) in which they are practicing
• Physicians who practice in multiple states require additional underwriting analysis
• The state in which the physician is practicing must allow Professional Liability coverage to be written on a surplus lines basis

Coverage Features

• Defense costs are in addition to the policy limit
• Coverage is provided on a claims-made basis, with an incident reporting trigger
• Prior acts coverage is available on an individual basis
• Corporate Entity and Allied Health coverage is available on a shared limit basis
• Minimum $5,000 deductible applies to indemnity and defense costs
• No consent to settle provision
• Limited Extended Reporting Period option: 36 months, no reinstatement of limits, and additional premium based upon rates in use at the time the ERP option is exercised there is no death, disability or retirement provision
• Vicarious liability coverage may be provided to the named policyholder's corporation, partnership or professional association on a shared limits basis at no additional charge
• Employed ancillary and miscellaneous medical personnel may be covered for their work performed on behalf of the named policyholder
